Many Successful businessmen have one thing in common

I read a theory recently that really made me think.
It went like this.
If you study the best business and the most successful and charismatic sales people and the ceo's of all the power house blue chip companies, you will find that many of these high flying executive types have one odd thing in common.
They are often sportsman. Great big rugby players and the like.
The theory attempts to explain why sportsmen often succeed in big business.
Well the obvious ones are that sportsmen are team players and encouraged to lead, and the comradery of the sport all add up to a leader who is able to get the support of his troops.
The less obvious point being that sportsmen understand failure.
They fight to win and are devastated by failure, but it does not destroy them, and they understand that failure is not the end of the season. Just the end of this match.
People who haven't played sport seriously are less likely to lift themselves out of failure.
And the fear of failure prevents them from even attempting things that are challenging, or risky.
So they always play it safe.
Makes you think doesn't it.
