Jaded
With frequent travel in luxury we find ourselves jaded and unimpressed by the wonder of the world.
This trip that we just came back from was very different in that we got to view the world through the eyes of a new traveler.
Khadija the care giver who came with us to take care of big ma was a novice traveler and everything she saw was new. The look on her face when she saw the Kaaba and the crowds and the airport and the lounges and fancy buffet breakfast was a sight to behold.
When we came back she was disappointed that she didn't have a chance to get out of her travel clothes and into the ones she had planned for her return. In our arrogance, we found that very cute and looked down our noses at the very idea
Until I saw this
Then I realised that it was us who had lost the ability to appreciate the blessings of travel and companionship and family.
When last had anyone of us had such a reception when coming home.
And I am truly humbled
