Better to live as a muggle than to die as Salieri

In the movie Amadeus, Antonio Salieri was introduced as the man who was given the gift of recognising genius. But not the ability to create great works.
Throughout the story that unfolds, he is at odds with a god who would give the divine music to a philandering drunk. (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart)
"Why have the ability to recognise greatness and not the ability to create".
To have the gift of appreciating beauty, and the gift of being very good at everything, would be frustrating, if you were not extraordinary.
Only true excellence would be worthy of respect, and in your own eyes, you would be mediocre.
It would have been simpler to not have had any special powers, and live as a muggle.
To not know the beauty of the world would be so much better, than to be able to appreciate the music and technology and not be a creator yourself.
