Zero gravity
It's not everyday that a thought comes up, highlighting something you didn't know before.
Makes you wonder what else you don't know that you don't know.
Before TV and movies.
How did the man on the street grasp the concept of zero gravity.?
We see it in movies and on TV and those lucky enough to go out to space are not at all surprised by it.
How did the man on the street grasp the concept of zero gravity.?
We see it in movies and on TV and those lucky enough to go out to space are not at all surprised by it.
But if you haven't seen those movies and pictures how would somebody go about explaining it to you?
Would you have an accurate picture in your minds eye?
Come to think of it, who was the first person.? If Isaac Newton first discovered gravity was he the first to speculate on its absence in space?
And before he saw the famous apple drop and discovered gravity, how did humans go about their business. Did we float about doing our business tied to the ground by a leash? Lol.
On a more serious note, the first person to predict zero gravity, had to have been a super genius. To see something that nobody else has seen, in their imaginations. A truly ridiculous theory, of people and things floating around, and to successfully convince other people of this was amazing. The fact that modern man takes this for granted, is more amazing.
The thing that gets me thinking is that there was a time, not so long ago that nobody would be able to get their minds around the concept of zero gravity. And it would have been impossible to discuss the concept with them as they would lack the basic vocabulary to visualise the Idea.
Is it such a stretch of the imagination to assume that there are other such, fundamental principals that we are currently ill equipped to conceive that will in the future be universally accepted.
Are we totally unable to grasp the reality of the world our grandchildren will live in.?
How then can we guide them and offer them our wisdom, and lifes lessons.
