Adventure is just around the corner.
Today we had a truly surreal experience.
We were on our way back from Gateway Mall when, just before we passed the Kwa Mashu off-ramp I asked if Rabia wanted to see where Mr Hoosen lived. I was of course joking but when she heard that there was a chance that she would get to see her childhood home she said she was in.By this time we had passed the off-ramp and I had to take the next one and turn back.
When we got to Effingham Road we parked opposite the house, just to get a peek. When were done I into the driveway and noticed that the house was for sale and that it was opened as a showhouse.

I couldn't get the agent on the line so I rang the bell and the owner let us in.
We met him and when we heard that he was Mr Bhoola we told him that it was Rabia's father who did the house to him. He said he had indeed bought the house from Mr Paruk.
Mr Bhoola was very welcoming and took the time to show us all parts of the well-preserved house. Even though he knew we were not buying, he and his wife were thrilled by the look in Rabia's eyes as she revisited her childhood.
Her father bought a piece of land and worked with the Architect and builders to create his perfect home. No expense was spared. From imported marble to crystal chandeliers. The extremely high quality had clearly stood the test of time. What we were seeing were her father's dreams and aspirations. He was long gone but his dreams lived on.
She cried, then I cried and Mr Bhoola, who probably regretted inviting us onto his house, felt like crying.
Some days come at you sideways and take you completely by surprise.
