Go wash your Damn face.
So I was thinking.
Why do we cry?
I get that we are sad. We all get sad. Sometimes we have good reasons to be sad and at other times we can't explain why we are sad. Within reason this is natural too.
What I find odd is that the tear glands over produce tears when we are sad.
The question is, what evolutionary survival advantage was to be gained from a tear gland that goes berserk when it sees you sad?
Firstly why does it do that? And secondly what advantage could tears give us?
Perhaps there was once a woman who by some quirk of nature had a slight deformity. Her tear glands gushed when she was sad. Her husband or significant other had no problem knowing when he was making her sad. So she ended up really happy. Their children inherited the trait and it came to be seen as a sign of great prosperity, as larger happier family circles were formed out of tears.
If we are a communal species and are defined by our ability to live and work together in large numbers to make huge things possible, then this was the beginning of it all.
It's possible that our current civilization was built on tears.
Go wash your Damn face.
