Dubai, the City with no soul

When you are in London, or new York, Paris or especially Istanbul you have a choice or going 5 star or roughing it.
Either way you could hit the high street or find  the road less travelled. The museums, the galleries, the building where the great composers worry their masterpieces. You can touch surfaces that were once touched by the great people of ages gone by. And you can feel the echo of the past, underlying and overlaying the present.
Dubai is not like that. It's shiny, clean and very much fake.
From the snow in the mall to the green lawns, it's as fake as a pair of silicon enhanced breasts.
Good to look at, but not real.
Photoshop at its most powerful.
If you scratch below the surface of the historical cities you will find complex stories. Here any attempt to dig below the glitzy exterior unearths the BEDOUIN, and while I am not suggesting that the bedouin doesn't have a long history, I am just not into that.
No game of THRONES.
When we see a cover girl on a magazine and we know that she has had surgery, is wearing loads of make up and that the pictures are subsequently doctored in photo shop, one realises how shallow we still are.
This entire city is one big cover girl.
She looks good, despite the fact that she is an illusion.
And there's the fact that the beach is brilliant and that it appears to be a really safe destination
