Pursue knowledge, deenie knowledge only.

I decided to weigh in on this one, and before I even started, I realized that this was a pointless exercise.
The question too deep to be covered in a short piece. A short quick rant, just didn't get the job done so I thought a little bit and decided to stand down.
Every path I took led to other paths and each one dropped out into the abyss.
This platitude is at the heart of it all.
All the assumptions of faith, and morality and society are bound into this one topic.
The search for answers and knowledge, is driven by our need to explain our very existence. And our purpose, and reason for existing.
If you accept that there is a plan and it was given to us as a blue print, and we simply needed to follow the instructions, then the only knowledge we actually need, is to till the land and raise live stock.
All research, that is not designed to directly improve our diets, or the lives of our peers is pointless.
We need to learn enough to get a good decent job, and spend our time praising the creator and trying to make the world a better place for our fellow travellers.
Why waste energy on studying the big bang, trying to trace the moment of creation, or fossils of long dead dinosaurs, or plot the trajectory of the earth into the next Millennium. All pointless.
The particle accelerator at cern, is the largest machine ever built. Who cares. The hubble space telescope, who cares. What do we care what's really out there, if we already know it all.
DNA, nuclear physics, robotics, artificial intelligence all pointless.
The problem one has with this approach is that we need medicine and food.
Doctors simply  prescribe medicine.
It's the scientists who  formulate and create the viagra that we crave.
If we have the doctors and farmers without the philosophers and scientists, the only prescriptions that we will have will be the mystic symbols of the "thawiz".
The talisman to ward off the evil eye.
There is simply not enough land to grow enough crops to feed the six billion bodies on the planet. Not if we farmed in the conventional way.
We need crop rotation and pesticides, and growth hormones, and super crops, and drought resistent plants, and laboratory grown beef and kardashians.
Don't ever forget the kardashians.
There are six billion of us and we are not done yet.
We need electricity and fossil fuel. And we need to burn it all without wondering why it's called fossil fuel. Just give me  unleaded petrol at the filling station, and wifi access for my iPhone and I don't really care about the technology behind it all.
M Parak Dubai 2015.

Since this piece was written, I have had many people respond, saying that I have "missed the point". Some have even gone so far as to say that I have written from a "position of ignorance", and these are only the kind responses.

I welcome the dialogue.
And I assume that the article was a success if it ignited the  dialogue.
